Doom and Gloom

The Bank of England Governor Mervyn King said today he expects inflation to breach the government's 3 percent limit for ``several quarters''

``The Monetary Policy Committee is facing its most difficult challenge yet,'' King told reporters in London today. ``We are traveling along a bumpy road as the economy rebalances. Monetary policy shouldn't try to prevent that adjustment.'' It ``must focus on bringing inflation back to the target in the medium term.''

Meanwhile the clunking fist Labour Party prime minister set out plans to implement Conservative Party policy which include closer monitoring of banks,

``There are lots and lots of things in this statement that we welcome, not least because we proposed them,'' said David Cameron leader of the opposition.
