So much for entente amicale

Back in March, addressing a joint session of both the Commons and the Lords in the Palace of Westminster, French President Nicholas Sarkozy said France and the UK should put aside "centuries of mistrust" and foster an "entente amicale" for the 21st century.



But at a press conference in Brussels yesterday, Mr Sarkozy blamed Peter Mandelson, the British European Union trade commissioner, for Ireland's rejection of the Lisbon Treaty Telegraph
