Catch All

David Cameron is set to unveil his new policy on Europe after abandoning his "cast-iron guarantee" of a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

The new Tory policy will include: A general election manifesto commitment to repatriate powers from Brussels, including control of social and employment policies.

Legislating so that if any future government agreed a treaty transferring powers from Britain to the EU, a referendum would be required by law.

Well Mr Cameron, how are you going to get around the catch all Article 48 of Lisbon treaty which makes the EU treaties self-amending. The result being that this is the last Treaty the European Union need, from now on the EU can change itself without consulting us.
