The Met Office has dropped its long-term seasonal forecasts after the fiasco of last year’s predictions of a ‘barbecue summer’ and mild winter.

Explaining its decision, the Met Office released a statement which said: "By their nature, forecasts become less accurate the further out we look.



Prof Julia Slingo said, "Trying to do a seasonal forecast for the UK is really hard.”

Meanwhile not a hundred miles from Copenhagen



A passenger ferry with nearly 1,000 people on board broke free from heavy pack ice that had trapped it for hours in the Baltic Sea of Sweden’s east coast. Dozens of other ships remained stuck and awaiting assistance
