You can lead a trojan horse to water

The Anglo-saxon Chronicle has learned that the Greek prime minister George Papandreou has offered to stand aside.

As thousands took to the streets to protest a second round of austerity measures on Wednesday, Prime Minister George Papandreou proposed to step aside so that his Socialist party could form a coalition government with the center-right opposition, but only if it would support a new bailout for the debt-ridden country.

Greece's economy is drowning in more than 300bn euros of debt – around one and a half times bigger than the country's entire annual output. Unemployment has rocketed to 16.2 percent, and the economy is predicted to contract by as much as 3 percent this year, making it Europe's worst performing economy – and one of the worst in the world.
